About the event

This performance delves into the oral histories of the Kadugolla community, highlighting the legendary bravery of Veera Tammanna Nayaka. Through evocative storytelling and music, he weaves a tapestry of community resilience, gender dynamics, and caste politics, challenging dominant historical narratives. The performance honours the community's unsung heroes, shedding light on their enduring legacy and the women singers who keep their stories alive.


Mohan Kumar A folk singer and researcher from the Kadu Golla community, has spent over 15 years documenting and publishing its oral narratives. A graduate of Theatre School Sanehalli, Chitradurga, his work includes lecture demonstrations at Rangayana, NSD, and leading universities in Karnataka. His award-winning book, Kadu Gollara Kolata Padagalu, earned the Karnataka Janapada Academy's prestigious recognition.


Krishnamurthy TN is a Cultural Historian and Senior Programme Officer at the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) in Bengaluru.
